Het zwaarste deel van de rit is volbracht en het is te hopen dat je nu van pech bespaart blijft. En hoop er bij de aankomst in Ieper bij te zijn. In 2005 heeft een Australiër met een Contal de rit Peking-Parijs gereden en is aangekomen in Parijs, wel is hij niet van pech bespaart gebleven. Er is een boek en twee dvd’s van verschenen: boek “The Great Peking to Paris” en dvd ” peking to Paris” word regelmatig aan geboden op Ebay.

Clement, ik ken Mick matheson goed, ok kocht die Contal van 2005 van hem vorig jaar om te zien hoe ie gemaakt was… ze reden de route helemaal niet… meer dan 3/4de op camion. Het was allemaal opgezet voor de documentaire! Zo zie je maar!

Hi Guys, in 2005 I saw an tv Ad for “the great Peking to Paris Expedition”. as a half French/ half Australian guy who loves old cars watching Australians drive French, Italian and Dutch cars from Beijing to Paris was abosutly brilliant. it’s great to see you completing what Auguste Pons started in 1907. when I first heard 2 guys were driving a Contal in the P2P, I thought you bought Mick Mathison’s replica, but doing it in an original 1907 model makes it even more special. my grandfather and I have been building 1/10 scale models of the 2005 Peking to paris cars (could not find enough photos of the original De Dions or Spyker) and I’m talking to the National Motor Museum in the Adelaide hills about doing a kids book of the Peking to Paris. really hope you guys make it, (I’m sure you will) the peking to paris story is what got me interested in veteran Motoring, and I would love to drive the P2P route one day – in a period car of course!
